Black Canary

Black Canary commission. The motorcycle is a mishmash of a few real bike designs - the majority of the front is a modified Kawasaki Ninja, for example. I wanted something that was dark and aggressive -- you know, "Gotham", and still something small and agile. I also gave up a little grace in the bike design for a more blunt front end. Hopefully to make it a little more "brute force". But then again, I tend to overanalyze things.

Regarding Black Canary, I changed her costume up slightly, with the motorcycle boots being the most obvious change I guess. That one, to me, only made sense. I also played around with a new technique in doing her fishnets in order to try to give them some form and lighting. Comes across pretty well, I think.

KIDS: always try new techniques on scrap paper first, especially if someone's paying you to do the work.

Though this looks nothing at all LIKE the cover for Purple Rain, it's all I can think of when looking at it. Sigh.
